Are Monty and Gadget allowed off-leash during their adventures?

Shibas were originally bred for hunting small game, and that instinct is still very much alive in Monty and Gadget. Add in their strong independent streak, and it's easy to see why we’re extra cautious. We never let them off-leash unless we’re in a securely fenced area where they can explore safely. It’s all about letting them enjoy the adventure—without the risk of chasing after a squirrel into the unknown!

What do Monty and Gadget never leave home without?

Monty and Gadget were born for adventure—but with a touch of comfort, of course. When it comes to hitting the road, these two never leave without their favorite things. Monty always grabs his beloved toy, and Gadget? She wouldn’t dream of an adventure without her cozy bedding—especially her favorite blanket, which she uses for her very serious nest-building rituals—and, of course, a stash of her favorite food (priorities, right?). It’s those little comforts that make their camping experiences not just safe, but truly enjoyable—for all of us.

What are Monty and Gadget’s must have camping snacks?

If there’s one thing Monty and Gadget take seriously on their camping trips, it’s the snack game.

Monty’s go-to treat? Extra Toasty Cheez-Its. He’s all about a crunchy bite by the fire after a long day of exploring. In the mornings, he never turns down some scrambled eggs—especially if he gets a few bites straight from the pan. He’s got a taste for campsite cooking, that’s for sure.

Gadget, meanwhile, is a full-on breakfast enthusiast. Bacon, sausage, eggs—she’s all in. As soon as she hears that sizzle, she’s ready and waiting for whatever extras come her way. She’s not picky, just highly motivated.

But the one treat they both go crazy for? Pup S’mores.

These are a must-have at every campfire. We keep them dog-friendly—no chocolate, of course, and we always double-check that the marshmallows are xylitol-free. The marshmallows get roasted just right (lightly toasted, no flaming, please), then sandwiched between dog biscuits or plain graham crackers. It’s their favorite fireside snack, and they know exactly when it’s s’more time.
